What the mind supresses, the body expresses.

FAQs

What will I feel during a Reiki session?
Often you will feel warmth and heat as I work through your body. You may feel a gentle sense of pulling or spinning in certain areas. You may feel emotional or the need to cry (and that’s fine!). You may feel nothing at all (and that’s fine too). It may take a few sessions to start to feel anything. As with the gym, Pilates or even spoken therapy, what you feel may take place in between sessions. Your experience is very individual. Just keep an open mind and keep taking lovely breathes and surrender yourself to the process. See more in my The Experience section of my website.

Will I experience any side effects?
As Reiki works on unblocking stagnated energy and deeply held emotions or memories that don’t serve us, it’s completely normal to feel emotional following a session. Perhaps in dreams, perhaps in your conscious mind, as old memories and emotions come to the surface. This is positive as it shows there’s movement that will lead to processing and an eventual release of what you may have been holding on to or suppressing. There is absolutely no reason for a recipient to experience any kind of physical pain after a session. Reiki is a completely safe modality and will not conflict with any medication or physical conditions you may have. Just anticipate feeling a bit different on a subtle level. You can manage this with my tips provided on The Experience page.

Can Reiki harm me or interfere with my course of treatment and medication?
Absolutely not. Reiki is entirely safe and complementary. If you are pregnant please contact me prior to booking.

Can I bring a friend?
Ideally no, as their presence and energy might interfere with yours. But of course, if having a companion helps you to fully relax or enables you to access a session then I can accommodate this. There is nothing physically intrusive about a Reiki session but there are some elements for the practitioner that are sacred, so a companion will be asked to attend passively and with discretion.

Can I eat before?
Yes of course you can. You will be lying on your back and then your front. So, do consider that and perhaps don't eat a three course meal beforehand! Rumbly tummies are par for the course, but loo breaks don’t really help the session and will be disruptive. Please however avoid caffeine or any kind of liquids that are high in unnatural sugars or stimulants. Make sure you drink lots of water before and after.

How many sessions should I have?
Reiki is not a one hit wonder. As with anything where one would want to see or feel significant improvement – it often takes time to see any noticeable results. I strongly recommend an initial course of four sessions and where needed, an extension to six. These can be followed by regular top ups of individual or dual treatments.

Do I need to explain why I am seeking Reiki with you?
No, you do not. In fact, I didn’t when I had my first treatment. I didn’t have the words, the energy or even the knowing really. I may ask you some really basic questions but nothing that should touch any nerves. However, if you want to chat with me – that’s totally fine. I am not a trained therapist in any other area, nor am I medically trained but I am a human being walking the path of life and anything you want to say will be heard, without judgement and in total confidence.
